“State of Childhood Asthma, United States: 1980-2005”
This report on childhood asthma released by the CDC in conjunction with MCAN's State of Childhood Asthma & Future Directions conference in 2006 shows that death rates for asthma among children under age 18 have declined since 1999, but doctor visits for the condition have more than doubled over the past decade.

The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), is a set of large-scale surveys of families and individuals, their medical providers, and employers across the United States. MEPS released Asthma Treatment and Management among the U.S. Civilian Noninstitutionalized Population, 2004 on December 27, 2006. This Statistical Brief uses data from the Household Component of the 2004 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS-HC) to estimate treatment regimens of persons who reported that they were ever told by a physician or other health professional that they had asthma. The brief presents data on medications and devices as they are used by different population groups.
