As a catalyst in assembling the expertise needed to identify and address factors contributing to childhood asthma morbidity in general and to specific high risk populations when identifiable, MCAN will lead and/or commission special projects. The aim of these projects is to inform the childhood asthma knowledge base and to communicate results and important observations as they are discovered and verified.

Estimating the Impact of Improving Asthma Treatment: A Review and Synthesis of the Literature

While there is a wealth of information on quality problems in asthma care, treatment options and impact of the disease, a comprehensive review that integrates the existing evidence and provides consensus estimates for the cost and benefits for better care is lacking.  This report attempts to bridge that gap and inform the debate about better ways to care for asthma by synthesizing the research on the cost and benefits of better asthma care.

The State of Childhood Asthma & Future Directions:
Strategies for Implementing Best Practices

The goal of this invitational conference was to convene experts and thought leaders from multiple disciplines to identify, discuss and recommend priority implementation strategies for best practices that will begin to close the gap between recommended and actual treatment and management of childhood asthma.
