Peyton Eggleston, MD



Peyton Eggleston, MDDr.  Eggleston is Professor of Pediatrics at John Hopkins University School of Medicine and Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  He is a well-known expert on factors contributing to urban asthma and allergen avoidance to minimize disease symptoms. Dr. Eggleston is a noted researcher, with more than 200 publications. His research identifying cockroach allergens as a major contributor to asthma symptoms in inner-city children gained him national recognition in the late 1990s. Dr. Eggleston was the Director of the Johns Hopkins University Center for Childhood Asthma in the Urban Environment, supported by the NIEHS and the USEPA, and a Principal Investigator in the National Cooperative Inner City Asthma Consortium, supported by the NIAID. He also serves as a temporary reviewer for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).
