Paul Garbe, DVM, MPH



Paul Garbe, DVM, MPHDr. Garbe is Acting Chief of the Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  He provides scientific and management oversight to the CDC National Asthma Control Program.  Dr. Garbe directs branch research related to respiratory diseases and air pollution, and coordinates branch programs and activities with other CDC programs and with state and federal public health and environment agencies.  Dr. Garbe also serves as the CDC Lead for the Healthy People 2010 Environmental Health Focus Area and is responsible for monitoring national health objectives related to outdoor and indoor air quality.  Dr. Garbe has been with CDC since 1982 and has held numerous positions within CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health that have focused on surveillance and investigation of environmentally related diseases.
